Why are CD versions of audiobooks more expensive?
The cost of CD packaging is more expensive.
And the length of the recorded material often mandates the creation of more CDs than cassettes for an audiobook title. One CD holds 74 minutes; one cassette holds 90 minutes (45 minutes per side). So, a title that's 3 hours long on 2 cassettes needs to be on 3 CDs and results in a higher cost.
