Banned Books Week: Sept. 26 -- Oct. 3, 2009

Celebrate your freedom to read (and listen)

The Banned Books Week campaign, sponsored by the American Library Association (ALA), is an annual celebration of the freedom not only to read and to choose what to read, but also to select from a full array of possibilities.

Banning books is a frightening concept. Nothing could be more harmful to a curious, interested, intelligent society. We must remain vigilant to ensure that our First Amendment rights to freedom of speech and freedom of the press are protected.

We invite you to investigate the following titles that were Challenged or Banned in 2008-2009.

Visit www.ala.org/bbooks to learn more about Banned Books Week.
