We carry a full selection of both abridged and unabridged readings, as well as dramatizations and titles that are created specifically for audio.

Who reads for these recordings?

The readers for these productions are typically either the author or a well-known actor or actress.

How can I become a reader?

If you aren't the author or a well known celebrity, this can be a tough business to get into. Honestly, it's a lot like the music business, where most audition tapes are never even listened to. But here's a hint: You can find a listing of audio publishers in Bowkers' Words on Cassette -- your local library should have a copy.

Do you carry Westerns? Mysteries? Childrens books? Biographies?

If it's been published on audio cassettes, and it's still in print, chances are very good it's a title that we stock. We feature a wide selection, from motivation to inspiration to the latest bestsellers, and even though we're not a search service, we do accept special orders for any title that is currently available from our over 100 suppliers.

We accept checks and money orders, Mastercard, Visa, American Express and Discover. Qualifying Libraries and Government Institutions may submit purchase orders and pay on open account.

Where are you located?

Our offices and warehouse are located in downtown Auburn, California. This is a town of about 12,000 people, right on Interstate 80, about 35 miles northeast of Sacramento and 100 miles west of Reno and Lake Tahoe.

Other information we analyze relates to the number of pages you visit and the amount of time you spend on our site. We use this information only to help us improve our site and merchandise offerings.

What is your guarantee/return policy?

You may return any purchase for a complete refund within 15 days of receipt. We will also replace any defective or damaged individual cassette free for a period of 90 days. Call us and we will rush you a replacement and a postage-paid envelope for your return. Just return the defective cassette, not the whole package.

How do I get email updates?

Customers who sign up for our newsletter are among the first to know about new titles and special sales. To either subscribe or unsubscribe, click here.

How often is the website updated?

Every night we update the site to include all of our new titles so you have the latest information as soon as it's entered into our system.

Are titles available on CD?

Yes, many of our titles are available on CD, and the CD selection is increasing rapidly. But it's unlikely that all audiobooks will be available on CD, especially the older titles.

Why are CD versions of audiobooks more expensive?

There are three reasons for this:
1. CDs cost 25% more to duplicate than cassettes.
2. The cost of CD packaging is more expensive.
3. The length of the recorded material often mandates the creation of more CDs than cassettes for an audiobook title. One CD holds 74 minutes; one cassette holds 90 minutes (45 minutes per side). So, a title that's 3 hours long on 2 cassettes needs to be on 3 CDs and results in a higher cost. 

How do I change my customer type?

When you first enter our site, we ask that you tell us whether or not you are ordering for a library. If you or the computer that you share needs to change from being a library to a non-library customer, please click on the log-out button at the bottom of the home page. This feature works both ways so if you're a non-library customer who now needs to order as a library, click on the log-out button.

 
 
What is your site security?

We are a Comodo secured site and all ordering information is encrypted using the state-of-the-art Secure Socket Layer (SSL) protocol before being transferred to our Web Server for processing. This protects your personal information from unauthorized use and it is in effect when you enter the checkout process.
