Ciro and Enza first meet as teenagers growing up in their native Italian Alps. Tragically torn apart, unbeknownst to each other, they both build fledgling lives in America. When fate reunites them, it is too late: Ciro has enlisted to fight in WWI and Enza has begun an impressive career as a seamstress at the Metropolitan Opera.
