Owner’s Box

Summary

Knives Out meets the cutthroat world of professional football in this one of-a-kind whodunit for fans of Harlan Coben, Michael Connelly, John Sandford, and the great American game.

Retired superstar quarterback Jake Duquette has lived a listless existence since hanging up his cleats. But when his father, a ruthless team owner and billionaire business tycoon, turns up dead at his own party, Jake begins to find new purpose in the quest to find the killer.

Jake’s sister Maddy, a former professional wrestler and the team’s most accomplished front-office executive, is arrested for the murder. Jake is convinced of her innocence, but in order to prove it he must navigate the complex power dynamics—from billions of dollars to control of both the team and the sprawling business empire left by his late father—between his sister, their adopted brother, and their scheming step-mother.

As he gets closer to unveiling the truth, Jake’s new sense of purpose leads him ever closer to a dangerous confrontation with the conspirators responsible. With more twists and turns than the legendary “Beast Quake” run, Owner’s Box offers edge-of-your-seat thrills, a gauntlet of surprise and betrayal, and a high speed, high-stakes exploration of profligate wealth and toxic masculinity that’s as much fun as the Big Game itself.
